Salford City have completed the loan signing of defender Taylor Allen from League One side Wycombe Wanderers.
Allen, 26, made 34 appearances for the Chairboys as they finished 11th in the third tier last season. The Englishman brings versatility to Peter Cklamovski’s side, being able to play as both a defender and midfielder.
After years playing in Non-League, Allen signed for Forest Green Rovers in 2019 and came off the bench to score the winner against Oldham Athletic on his Sky Bet League Two debut. After a
couple of seasons, including loan spells at Hereford, Gloucester City and Leamington, he agreed to join hometown club Walsall in 2022.
He made a name for himself in the West Midlands and played a huge role in the side that made it to the play-off final in the 24/25 League Two season. He contributed 10 goals and seven assists in 48 appearances, winning Walsall’s Player of the Year award and earning a spot in both the EFL and PFA League Two Teams of the Season.
Following this success, he made a move to League One for Wycombe Wanderers, where he now departs for Salford City on a season-long loan deal.
Speaking to the Club after signing his loan agreement, he said: “I’m really excited, happy to be up here, and I can’t wait to get going.
“I try and help the team as much as I can, be available, work hard, be involved in the play going forward. I like to think I’m an all-rounder, can do both sides of the game to help the team.
“This is my next challenge now; hopefully I can come into the group, help the squad deliver good performances, and hopefully pick up good results. The squad’s in a really good place with some really good players; hopefully I’m adding to that to help the lads get to where we want to get to.”
Allen is in contention to play against Shrewsbury tomorrow night, where the Ammies will hope to pick up their first points of the season.
It has been a poor start for Peter Cklamovski at Salford, losing the first two games and sitting in 22nd place.
