New mental health support sessions are starting in Salford as part of a Greater Manchester programme.

Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust’s Recovery Academy has launched its autumn-winter term in time for World Mental Health Day 2026  on October 10.

Salford residents can take their pick from dozens of courses including five new groups which are, ‘Let’s Talk about Menopause’, ‘Understanding Body Dysmorphic Disorder’, ‘Understanding and Talking about ADHD’, ‘Talking about Trauma and Psychosis ‘and the ‘Joy Workshop’.

Sessions can be in person or online and further resources are provided to help people stay well and grow.

The Recovery Academy is recognised nationally as a flagship recovery college. It offers educational and awareness-raising courses and resources, focusing on wellbeing and shared learning.

The Academy is free to join and open to the general public, anyone who is experiencing mental health challenges and/or addiction difficulties and their supporters and healthcare professionals as well as professionals from external organisations.

Team manager Amy Lawrence said: “All our courses are co-produced and co-delivered with experts by experience – people who have real, lived experience in the topics we cover – whom I have loved getting to know since joining the team in January 2026.

“We spent the last term getting out into the community and listening to what our students want to see on offer, and getting feedback on what we can do to make courses and resources more accessible. And I am excited to announce that our autumn/winter term (October 2026 to March 2027) includes five new courses and a wealth of new digital resources for our students.”

Amy is proud to be supporting the ‘Real Voices, Real Change’ campaign for this year’s World Suicide Day on October 10.

New digital resources this term include self-help tools in areas such as neurodiversity and parenting a child with mental health issues.
