A CHILDREN’S charity based in Manchester is looking for volunteers to take part in the 2016 Great Manchester Run.

MedEquip4Kids, in Prestwich, works with medical staff, community nurses and other registered charities to provide equipment and improve facilities in hospitals.

Their aim is to help fund care and equipment provided to children that is not readily available within the NHS budget.

Staff at the charity are hoping to rally volunteers to raise money and run the 10 kilometers through the city centre.

This year’s event will be Sunday May 22 and will be broadcast live on the BBC.

Afterwards, participants are invited to an exclusive after-run party to celebrate  with friends, family and other MedEquip4Kids fundraisers.

Since 2003, over a quarter of a million people have taken part in the event, a 10 kilometre route through the city centre.

The Great Manchester Run is also one of the country’s most popular 10k runs, with over 36,000 people taking part last year.

The minimum fundraising target is £180. Those who are interested in running are asked to register as soon as possible.
