The January transfer window proved to be an eventful one for The Ammies, with eight new players being brought in and a further three departing for pastures new.

Halfway through their maiden voyage into the football league, Salford find themselves mid table. So who are the new arrivals that hope to propel Salford up the table? We take a look below:

Ins:

Ash Hunter (Loan)

The Fleetwood forward joins on a short term loan deal until the end of the season.

A winger primarily deployed on the left flank, Hunter is more of an attacking threat than a creative one, as he likes to cut in on his favored right foot and has scored 38 goals in over 200 games at Highbury.

Still only 24, moving down to the league below, hopefully Hunter will have no problem fitting into life in League two.

Ash Eastham

Another Ash from Fleetwood, 28 year-old Eastham joins on a two and a half year deal and is an experienced center-half with over 150 appearances to his name for The Cod Army.

He has also spent time in League Two with Cheltenham and Rochdale.

At 6’3 he commands his box and offers a strong aerial presence for set pieces, whether that be defending or attacking them.

Though he is a no-nonsense type of center-half who likes to release the ball quickly, he is very capable with the ball at his feet and is assured when in possession.

Tom Elliot

The 6’4 striker joins on a two and a half year deal from championship side Millwall.

A hard working target man, 29 year-old Elliot has prior experience in league two, having been an important member of the AFC Wimbledon squad that reached League One via the play offs in 2016.

An experienced and well traveled striker, Elliot provides another option up front and will be a valuable edition to the squad.

Bruno Andrade

Signing from League One side Lincoln City on a two and a half year deal, Andrade is a rapid tricky winger that will hope to cause havoc down the Salford flanks.

At 26 years old he is entering his prime and will look to add to Salford’s growing list of attacking talent. Andrade scored 10 goals in 42 appearances as The Imps were promoted to League One last season as eventual Champions of League Two.

Michael O’Connor

Another edition from Lincoln City, the 32 year-old O’Connor joins on a short term deal until the end of the season.

The experienced midfielder brings with him a wealth of experience which includes two promotions from league two and championship level quality from his time at Rotherham.

Primarily a defensive midfielder, O’Connor is a former Northern Ireland international and will add depth and quality to Salford’s midfield

George Tanner (Loan)

Joining from Manchester United’s academy until the end of the season, Tanner is an industrious and attacking right back that loves to get forward and contribute to the attack.

At 20 years old, he is still learning his trade in the game but spent the first half of the season at fellow League Two side Morecambe, where he made 29 appearances.

James Wilson

Once the jewel in Manchester United’s crown of academy graduates, Wilson has joined Salford on a 18 month deal from Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen.

Wilson is a pacey striker with an attuned eye for goal and has Premier League, Championship and even Europa League experience.

At just 24 years old, Wilson’s best years are still ahead of him, and he will hope his goal scoring prowess will flourish as Salford fight for promotion to League One.

Darron Gibson

A sensational signing for the Ammies, Gibson brings genuine Premier League pedigree to the club.

Having turned out 31 times for Manchester United, the 32 year-old has played with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.

A seasoned Republic of Ireland international, Gibson will look to dictate the tempo of Salford’s midfield as well as chipping in with the odd screamer as he is known to do. Though he is past his physical prime, class is permanent and Gibson will hope to be an invaluable cog in Salford’s midfield machine.

Outs:

Jake Beesley

Salford have accepted an offer from Solihull Moors to make the loan deal of 23 year-old forward Jake Beesley permanent.

Beesley has scored four goals in 12 league appearances for the National League club and made 35 appearances for Salford across a two and a half year period.

Tom Walker

24 year-old midfielder Tom Walker has also left for the National League to join AFC Fylde.

He has spent this season on loan at Stockport County where he scored five goals in 15 appearances. He leaves the club after having been apart of the squad that won back to back promotions into the football league.

Lois Maynard

Like Walker, central midfielder Maynard won back to back promotions with Salford but has decided to drop down a league to join Stockport County.

The 31 year-old made 94 appearances for Salford, scoring 9 goals.
