Salford graduate releases new Bodies UK hip-hop album

Salford graduate Will Stevenson and Robin Parker have released a new album under their name, Bodies UK.

The duo released their latest project ‘Endless Summer’ last Friday.

The hip-hop duo have taken inspiration from a wide array of artists from American rapper Denzel Curry to spoken word artist Kae Tempest.

Previous projects from the group include ‘A Cold And Lonely Country’ and ‘Separations’ with standout track ‘I Should Call’ being a favourite among fans.

Endless Summer isn’t just a Bodies UK project with the hip hop duo collaborating with Manchester poet Antony Szmierek.

The spoken word artist has released short story collections and albums in the past, notably ‘Some Worries I Had at the Party’, a six-track spoken word project from August 2020.

The collaboration seems unconventional but Will Stevenson is a key member of the Manchester spoken word scene co-hosting poetry open mic night Switchblade Society.

But what can you expect from Bodies UK’s latest project? Well here’s a quick preview before you listen.

After a short atmospheric track you’re introduced to Bodies UK’s signature spitfire style on Back & Forth, a track that recently featured on Spark Sunderland hosted by fellow Salford Alumni Megan Hayward.

Miss Hayward said: “I was a big fan of them a few years ago when they first started producing things and it’s great to hear what they’ve started creating with Antony.”

The Break is next with Will Stevenson offering up a socially conscious commentary in a lyrically lucrative minute.

The title track Endless Summer is next which is a real change of pace with a mellow yet melancholic melody accompanied by an acoustic instrumental.

The next two tracks, Strings and Difference, were released earlier this year as part of a two-track EP that saw the hop hop duo and spoken word poet collaborate for the first time.

The album closes with Ends which is a return to the style of Back & Forth, it creates a full circle quality to the album which leaves you wanting to play the project on repeat.
