Salford City fans have taken to social media to call for an imminent stadium move to the AJ Bell.

The Reds had to cancel their second home game in a row due to a waterlogged pitch at The Peninsula Stadium.

The Ammies game on the fifth of February against Port Vale was called off following a pitch inspection at 13:30pm when the game was meant to kick off at 15:00.

Thus resulting in Salford City co-owner and Manchester United legend Gary Neville taking to Twitter offering to refund Port Vale’s fans tickets, pay for the Port Vale team bus and fund the cost of the Port Vale’s supporters busses.

On the 19th of February the pitch passed a preliminary pitch inspection prior to the Ammies clash with Crawley Town FC. The officials were supposed to return for a further inspection at 12:30pm however the game had already been called off prior to mid-day.

Fans took to twitter to express their annoyance at the situation.

One Crawley town fan wrote at 11:44am – “Well done! We’re all in Manchester! This could have been done at 9am”.

Another Twitter user expressed their frustrations – “A shambles of the highest order but nothing surprising from you. Thankfully we didn’t travel all the way, thanks to people telling us at 10am. Why leave it so late to cancel? Learn from your mistakes @GNev2, vale all over again ain’t it? Laughable”.

With the club potentially taking part in a stadium swap with Salford Red Devils seeing the Ammies move to The AJ Bell and the Devils going the other way, some fans in the Salford City FC supporters group on Facebook showed their feelings following the postponements.

Salford fan Darren Bradley said – “The move to the AJ Bell is the only way these postponements will stop”.

Admin of the Facebook group Dave Farrar put – “This pitch is a good argument for moving to AJ Bell.”
The fans were angry that the Salford game was called off, however other clubs in the North West were given the go ahead to play, such as Stockport County who are in the division below Salford.

“Shit when national league Stockport’s game is still on when they’ve had the same amount of rain as us” one Facebook user wrote.

The recent postponements for Salford have definitely started to make the fans think that this potential stadium swap might be more beneficial for the Ammies than perhaps they once thought.
