Nao was welcomed on stage by screaming fans, whistles and claps from the audience.

Although the tent was not at full capacity, the audience came together and filled the space with their vocals, singing along with NAO. Her sugar sweet voice, powerful and soulful performed ‘Zillionare’, ‘Fool to Love’, ‘Girlfriend’ and ‘Bad Blood’ amongst other songs from her debut album ‘For All We Know’ that will be released on July 29.

Her newest single ‘Girlfriend’ premiered on BBC Radio 1 with Annie Mac and was the Hottest Record in The World on May 23. Earlier on in the year, BBC Radio 1 also crowned her third place on the BBC Music Sound of 2016 list.

Both old and young came to watch her perform, with the range of genres her music is categorised under, she appeals to many. She combines genres such as funk, soul and R&B as well as electronic music. She performed with an all-male band, a drummer and two guitarists who played faultlessly.

She performed barefoot on stage which added to her raw performance, her unique and distinct voice catapult her amongst some of the top vocalists right now.

The moody lighting fitted the atmosphere, the bassy, electronic tones during ‘Fool to Love’ were partnered with electric blue strobe lights, this created an energetic and enthusiastic audience.

Nao at Parklife Festival, ManchesterNAO has been compared to contemporary vocalists FKA Twigs and Kelela. The east-London raised singer featured on Disclosure’s album ‘Caracal’ singing the vocals for ‘Superego’ as well as collaborating with Mura Masa, electronic producer and singer/songwriter on ‘Firefly’ that has had over 12 million plays on Spotify.

Her performance was not one to be missed, she certainly gained fans at Parklife this year that’s for sure.

She promoted her tour that will be happening around the UK, later on this year. She will be back and performing here in Manchester at the 02 Ritz on October 25.
