We slumped through January, raced through February, and as the end of March is getting closer, it’s time to celebrate Mother’s day!

On the 31st of this month, treat your mum to something special, show your appreciation and tell her you love her. What better way to do that than with food and alcohol?

So if you’ve forgotten to plan anything, or just don’t have a clue on what to do, here’s eight things you can do in Salford to celebrate Mothering Sunday:

1.) Mother’s day brunch at the Alchemist

Take your mum out for some luxury bites with a view at the Alchemist, located at the heart of MediaCity. Book online to get a complimentary cocktail when you arrive!

2.) Mother’s day Prosecco cruise on Ralli Quays

Set sail next Sunday on a boozy cruise, the perfect treat for any Prosecco lovin’ mums. Travelling along the Manchester canal, the 90-minute journey on the ‘Princess Katherine’, includes a historical commentary and free glass of Prosecco.

3.) Special Mother’s day menus at Prezzo

Prezzo are offering two special menus for Mother’s day this year: a scrumptious set menu with Italian goodies, starting from £16.95 each, and also a seasonal spritzer menu offering bubbly for just £5. You even get a free glass of prosecco with your meal!

4.) Afternoon tea at Ordsall Hall

Next Sunday Ordsall Hall are hosting a ‘scrumptious’ Mother’s day afternoon tea, for just £15pp.

The ‘breathtaking’ Great Hall was constructed in 1512 by Sir Alexander Radclyffe, and boasts a rich historical value. What better way to treat your mum like royalty?

The event will run from 1-2pm on the 31st of March and can be booked here. But there’s no rush, as places will be available to book up until 1:45pm next Sunday.

5.) Bottomless afternoon tea at the Lowry Hotel

Hosted in the Grand Hall room, the Lowry Hotel are offering an afternoon tea buffet, with unlimited treats for both adults and children.

On the menu is finger sandwiches, savoury pastries, scones, sweet treats and cakes – including mini malteser cake and strawberry tarts! Guests are also offered a choice of tea, coffee and juice.

The event costs £30 each for adults (£15 fore children) and includes ‘family friendly entertainment’ in the form of Carl the magician.

6.) Afternoon tea and pebble decorating in Irlam

“On Saturday 30th March, Pebbleart Salford is hosting a Vintage Style Afternoon Tea, with pebble decorating for that special someone.”

The event begins at 1.30pm where homemade cakes and bakes will be provided by Jacqueline Heaton, and includes options for both children and adults. Those of you with little ones: there is also an opportunity for kids to decorate their own gingerbread men!

Afternoon tea costs £10 per adult and £6 per child, and offers food, drinks, a raffle, and an unknown surprise which will be unveiled on the day.

7.) Gin Mare Mother’s Day special

Neighbourhood tearoom Vintage Ambiance have teamed up with Gin Mare to host an evening of gin, live music and complimentary food this Mother’s day.

Guests will receive a Gin & Tonic on arrival, live acoustic entertainment and exclusive Gin Mare cocktails.

Located on 188 Monton Road, Vintage Ambiance has received the Tripadvisor certificate of excellence, and has even been a hotspot for Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter!

Tickets cost £20pp and can be attained by emailing hello@vintageambiance.co.uk with details of how many tickets you would like to purchase, and a contact number.

But be quick, for tickets are in such high demand that Vintage Ambiance have had to extend their opening times til 9pm – so get booking!

8.) Free drinks at the Matchstick Man

On a budget? Hungry Horse pub the Matchstick Man, located next to Salford Quays tram stop, are offering a free free drink when you book a table on Mother’s day.

Book a table for either the 30th or 31st and your Mum will get a free drink with her meal as a treat.

Also, if you buy two large glasses of the same wine, and get the rest of the bottle free!

 

If you are really unprepared, at least get your mum a card…
