One hundred and one dachshunds have been rescued across Greater Manchester including one in Salford.
After a two-month probe into illegal breeding, police raided nine homes that were suspected of selling the puppies without a licence.
The big operation was executed by Rochdale Borough Council’s partnership enforcement team, with assistance from Greater Manchester Police, RSCPA inspectors and representatives from neighboring officers in Rochdale.
Mark Widdup, director of neighbourhoods at Rochdale council, said: “It is really pleasing that we have been able to execute the warrants successfully and place the dogs into care.”
All the dogs are now under the care of the RSPCA but are not yet available for adoption.
An RSPCA spokesperson said: “On Tuesday, November 12th, RSPCA officers and partner agencies including Greater Manchester Police and Rochdale Trading Standards executed warrants at addresses in Rochdale, Oldham, Heywood and Little Hulton.”
The individuals have not yet been named but are under investigation. Now Rochdale Council are encouraging people who have bought a Dachshund within Rochdale in the last 12 months to come forward.

Even with rising prices there’s no need for neglect. I have two small dogs but would put them before mobile phones, broadband, alcohol ect. I lost a dog over a year ago and still miss him. Would love another dog.
