24-year old Lucy Fallon said a final farewell to the cobbles last night, leaving corrie fans in tears.

She made her professional acting debut in 2015 when she was cast as Bethany Platt, the daughter of Sarah Platt.

The role has earned her large amount of recognition, including two British Soap Awards, an Inside Soap Award and a National Television Award.

She was interviewed by Phil and Holly on This Morning, she said: “I quit corrie because it was now or never, it was my first job from sixth form”

“The whole day when we were filming (my final scenes) I was crying all day, it was pathetic.”

She also proved to the nation that she could sing, after winning ITV’s All Star Musicals in 2017. She belted out ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’ while wearing the dress that was worn by Elaine Paige as Eva Peron in the first production of Andrew Lloyd Webbers Evita. The one-off special was filmed at the Palladium Theatre in London’s West End and was hosted by cricketer and TV personality Freddie Flintoff.

Out of all storylines that Fallon took on, she said that the grooming plot was the toughest, but the most rewarding for her, and not because the soap won multiple awards for it.

She also said that her fondest memory was the getaway to the lake with the Platts. Where Gail ended up firing an arrow at Lorraine Kelly.

Bethany’s exit follows her applying for a writing course, in order to further a career in journalism, though she wasn’t accepted. The course forwarded a copy of her work to a magazine in London who then offered her a sixth month internship. Her depature also comes after the realisation that her boyfriend (Daniel Osbourne) is not over the loss of his wife, Sinead Tinker.

But don’t fret, the actress took to twitter last night to promise that it’s not the last that we will see of Bethany.
