A local fire and security business is being praised after one of their employees offered their service to a local Salford drop-in centre.

An employee at Mono Fire and Security recently helped the charity Salford Loaves and Fishes in repairing the fire systems in their building for no charge.

Salford Loaves and Fishes, located on Paddington Close, is a drop-in centre which supports homeless, vulnerable and isolated adults. It was when the charity recently needed their fire systems repaired that an employee of Mono decided to help.

It was Mono employee Aaron who discussed the idea with staff in the office tp help out carry out the Charity’s repair for free.

Graham Smith, director at Mono Fire and Security, commended Aaron and discussed how they have got involved in past charitable activities.

“The whole belief behind our business is to be able to trust our employees working remotely and to listen to what they have to say, everyone in the Company can contact the bosses at Head office, also they know how we like to help out certain organisations.

“That’s very important to us, that we can provide assistance to those who are in need of it.

“Aaron is great, he started with us when he left school and he is a real testament to the company.

“It was between Aaron and the girls in the office that the idea of helping Salford Loaves and Fishes came about when I was approached.

“It was a no brainer to agree to upgrade their fire alarm system free of charge. As a result of that, we are actually looking into how we can further help support them in the long term, as we appreciate the work that they do.”

“We have been involved in other charity and community projects before.

“Like we got involved with DIY SOS a while back in Little lever over in Bolton.

“There was a family there with a boy who had autism, who had to have improvements made to their house. We had a number of our workers help out and with other like-minded people, the house was completely redeveloped in something like 9 days.”

Graham also discussed how Covid-19 has impacted the way they operate and how they have seen an increase in new enquiries about protecting their business.

“Covid has changed a lot of the ways we would have normally operated. For us, rule number one has been to stress that no one does anything they feel to be unsafe: they all have PPE, gloves and gels and our office staff also vet everyone before we attend.

Health and Safety are paramount for us and it was fantastic to see how important our employees recognised it to be and how they have been able to stay safe. ”

“Our business involves a lot of contracts for our services, but we did have a lot of phone calls from new people interested in our security and CCTV systems. Our number is posted on our website and we did have plenty of new customers inquiring about how they can protect their businesses. ”

Commenting on the repair of their fire systems, Salford Loaves and Fishes said: “Our gracious thanks to Mono, without that kind of support we just couldn’t provide all the services we do for the homeless and disadvantaged in the area and we continue to be extremely thankful for that support”.
