The Running Bee Foundation has donated gifts to Wood Street Mission, in aid of their Christmas appeal.

The Running Bee Foundation are a group that deliver big events and donate all profits to local good causes and charities around Manchester and Salford.

Established in 2018, the group has supported the works of Wood Street Mission for just over two years, by donating gifts each Christmas.

This year, the group has donated over 400 pounds worth of gifts to the charity, donating gifts that are mostly aimed at teenagers and young adults.

Sponsor and Partner Activation manager, Kevin Harmer said: “We’ve donated items to teenage ages, in hope that it gives them more self-esteem and a bit more confidence in whatever they’re going to be doing in 2021.

“I think people automatically will go and buy toys for babies and young children, like plastic toys that make lots of noises and sounds whereas teenage items are often overlooked.

“We’ve bought things like hair straighteners, AirPods, and beauty products. The sorts of things that teenagers would want.”

Wood Street Mission has been helping children and families, affected by poverty, in Salford for over 150 years.

Mr Harmer continued: “The charity were surprised when I opened the box, but surprisingly good way.

“When we delivered the gifts Wood Street Mission said ‘Well, that’s perfect’ because that’s the type of gifts people overlook.”

In October Wood Street Mission launched a Christmas appeal for gifts, for children living in Salford and Manchester. However, after a fantasic response, the charity stated that “Santa’s Sleigh is full to the brim”.

Mr Hamer added: “Asking our staff to donate money and gifts to Wood Street Mission at Christmas time is something that we always do.

“I hope the items help develop confidence in teenagers, more than anything else.”
