Walk-in clinics are now operating in Salford to boost numbers receiving the Covid vaccination.

NHS Salford and Salford city council are urging those who have not already been vaccinated to come forward for their jabs.

Anyone aged 40 or over can turn up without an appointment to receive their first jab at various centres. The two Salford walk-in clinics open today are:

Irlam Leisure Centre, open 9.30am-1pm.

Eccles Leisure Centre, open 1-7pm.

Salfordians aged 30-39 can book a Covid vaccine appointment via the NHS website or call 0800 953 0116.

Worsley resident Claire Powell reassured anyone with doubts about getting vaccinated in Salford.

She said her experience at the Little Hulton centre had been very impressive.

She said: “In terms of not taking too much time and no wait, it was absolutely perfect.”

And she did not suffer any side-effects, although some people have felt unwell the following day.

She is hoping that the sooner more people are vaccinated, the sooner restrictions can be eased.

A total of 161,874 people in Salford have received their first dose of the jab, with more than 114,380 people having received both doses.
