Salford City have announced Josh Morris as their first new signing of the summer.

The 29-year-old midfielder has signed a two-year deal with the club after being released from Fleetwood Town.

Morris started his career in the Blackburn Rovers Academy where he first worked with the current Salford manager, Gary Bowyer.

Before joining Fleetwood, Morris made a name for himself at Scunthorpe United where he finished as their top scorer in his first two seasons and helped The Iron secure third and fifth place in League One.

Following their relegation, Morris joined Fleetwood Town and scored seven goals in 57 League One appearances.

On completing his move to the Ammies, Morris said: “I’m delighted, it’s just nice to get sorted before pre-season starts again, then I’m just looking forward to getting going.

“There’s massive ambition here, I think everyone knows that already, I knew that before I spoke to the manager.

“Obviously working with Gary (Bowyer) before was a big plus for me, he’s someone I’ve come through with and he knows how to get the best out of me, and I know what he wants so I’m really looking forward to it.

“I play either left or right wing, get creative, I like to take players on and score and assist goals really, that’s my job as a player and hopefully I can bring that to Salford.”

Manager Gary Bowyer added: “I’m absolutely delighted to get the first signing for Salford on a permanent basis and to have got someone of the calibre of Josh is fantastic for me and for the club.

“I know he is going to score lots of goals and provide lots of assists so our forwards will be excited that we’ve signed him.”
