Salford City will be hoping to secure a win in tonight’s second round of the EFL cup against Bradford City.

The Ammies are hosting the Bantams at the Peninsula, with the game kicking off at 7.30pm.

Salford, despite sitting ninth in league two, have failed to find their feet this season having not won in their last six matches.

After a 4-1 loss to Carlisle United on Saturday, Neil Wood’s side will hope to redeem themselves in this midweek match.

After Saturday’s game, he said: “It was a poor start, we switched off. There was a lack of concentration at the start and then I thought we put a lot of pressure on them in the first half.”

As for Bradford, who sit in fifth, they also faced a loss on Saturday with a 3-1 defeat at home to Northampton Town.

The attention, however, is now turned to the knockout round of the EFL Papa John’s Cup where the Reds are currently unbeaten and hold the top spot of the Northern Group D.

Bradford City, however, currently sit second in group H. This is their first time qualifying since the 2017-2018 season when they also reached the second round.

Salford City 4-2 win at Papa John’s Trophy Final, March 2021

Last year’s run was unsuccessful for Salford and Bradford as both teams were knocked out of the group stages of the cup.

Salford will be hoping to mirror the 2020-2021 season where they emerged victorious and took home their first-ever piece of silverware.
