An Irlam-based charity has become a donation hub for the earthquake devastation in Turkey and Syria and is asking the community of Salford for urgent items required.

Following the disaster, The David Pennington charity has paired with the Spearhead Foundation which will be transporting the supplies to Turkey and Syria.

The David Pennington charity is family run and has served at the heart of the Irlam and Cadishead community for many years. Andy Higham and his mother Angela Pennington set up the charity in memory of their late father and husband, David.

Andy said: “We had to help the children and families who have nothing left.”

They have had an “amazing response” from the public who have already donated hundreds of bags full of donations. Although they are still looking for urgent supplies.

They currently are in need of warm blankets, children’s coats, clothing and shoes. They also need hats, scarves and gloves for all ages. These must be in good condition or brand new. They are also looking for sealed and in date baby food, formula and nappies.
