Schools in Salford have been urged to offer equal opportunities for all genders in football in the wake of the Women’s FIFA World Cup 2023.

The move comes after Labour MP for Worsley & Eccles South. Shadow Minister for the Arts and Civil Society, Barbara Keeley, sent a tweet urging Salford schools to sign up for a series of free resources offered by the Fa to help children in sports.

The resources come in the wake of FIFA’s Women’s World Cup which begins of 20 July in Australia.

The MP said: “The FIFA Women’s World Cup is less than 40 days away. But too many schools do not yet offer football equally to boys & girls. The FA is offering resources to schools to support an equal offer of football. Schools can register here: girlsfootballinschools.org   #LetGirlsPlay.”
