Salford City have announced the signing of West Brom full-back Ethan Ingram on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old becomes the latest player to move to the Peninsula Stadium this summer, completing a late deadline day move from The Baggies.

Ingram has completed a season-long switch from The Hawthorns, where the defender made his senior debut against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup for West Brom in 2021.

The England Under-20 international made 19 appearances in the Premier League 2 for West Brom last season, and also scored the winning penalty against Wolves in the Premier League Cup in 2022.

Ingram will spend the 2023/24 campaign at Salford City, as Neil Wood’s side seek promotion to League One, after suffering an agonising play-off semi-final defeat last season.

Upon completing a season-long loan move to Salford City, Ingram said: “I’m excited, this is my first experience of men’s football so I think there’s a lot to learn, but this is my chance to learn and develop, become the player I can, and I think Salford’s the right club for me to do that.

“When I was playing in pre-season I was surprised with how they were playing. They wereplaying out, being brave, trying to progress up the field with the ball on the floor which was good. And the stadium, it’s tight-knit and I think that will help fans to have that connection with the players on the pitch, so it’s good. I felt the togetherness, the pressure and I wondered what it’s like to be on that side.

“I like to get the ball down and play, but when we want to get it out wide I can win an aerialball, I’m a physical player, got a leap on me. But I like to play when I can through the thirds and attack when I can.”

The Ammies travel to Morecambe in League Two on Saturday afternoon, looking to take confidence from Tuesday’s shock Carabao Cup win over Leeds United.

Salford City beat the former Premier League side 9-8 on penalties in midweek and will face Vincent Kompany’s Burnley as a reward for reaching the third round of the competition.

Ingram is seventh addition at Salford City this summer, following deals for Connor McLennan, Curtis Tilt, Luke Garbutt, Alex Cairns, Ossama Ashley and Joe Wright.
