Salford Diabetes is running free local workshops to give people with diabetes the opportunity to meet others like them.

The sessions in in Eccles, Pendleton, Swinton and Walkden will be face to face and taught by specialists in the field of diabetes, who have several years of experience.

Team member for Salford Diabetes, Olivia Purrington, stated: “All of our educators are very engaging – we want people to enjoy themselves and it’s an opportunity to meet other people with diabetes.

“We’ve had feedback that it’s nice for people to meet other people who have similar lives”.

With recent changes and updates, workshop sessions will now be provided in Irlam and Cadishead.

Due to cost changes since the peak of the COVID epidemic, Salford Diabetes has not been able to run sessions as frequently.

The team has stated: “As a team, we know people in Irlam & Cadishead can miss out on a lot of opportunities simply due to the difficulties in getting to other locations from Irlam, so we’re really keen to reintroduce sessions that are more accessible.”

We’ve had feedback that it’s nice for people to meet other people who have similar lives”.

Patients in Salford are eligible to enrol in any of the free courses by contacting 0161 206 5882 or emailing Salford Diabetes at diabetes.admin1@nca.nhs.uk
