Last Sunday Salford Cycling Club recently held the last race of the North West Cyclocross league season at Salford’s Buile Hill Park.
In the fifth edition of the race, over 300+ cyclist ranging from under eights to over 80 came together to finish off the season on a high note.
Pete Murray the race organiser for Salford Cycling Club, said: “Feedback from the riders was really positive and it’s always amazing to see a diverse range of people, families and friends turn out in the park.”
Despite it being the fifth year the race has been held at Buile Hill Park Pete admitted that setting up the race each year has never been smooth sailing.
Pete added: “It’s never been routine, there are always hiccups in the organisation and we’ve always adjusted the course according to rider feedback and from Salford Council wardens in order to make it the best we can make it and people seem to love it”.
The NWCCA season runs from the start of September until late January and has multiple different leagues running at the same time.
The race in the male category was won overall by Jake Edwards for Cog Set Papyrus Racing with an impressive time of 50:13.9.
Layla Bradbrook won the women’s race for Marsh Tracks Racing, she scored a time of 41:33.7 competing in the junior women’s category closely followed by her sister Holly.
Despite last years race only just ending, Salford Cycling Club are already looking forward to next years race.
Pete Murray added: “We got more feedback from riders on ways to improve the course for next season and I’m already excited about what new things we can do for 2025.”
