Following a suspected fight involving weapons, extra patrol officers have been deployed in Swinton.

The patrol started last night and will end tonight (February 8) at 11.10pm.

It is believed that a group containing males and females wearing black clothing and face coverings on E-Bikes were fighting with weapons on Cromwell Road in Swinton.

No injuries have been reported to police.

The GMP authorised a section 60 authority in the outlined area of the map. The section 60 authority grants officers extended powers to stop and search individuals within the area.

Specialist officers including officers from GMP’s Tactical Aid Unit have been in attendance alongside neighbourhood police officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Humphreys, of GMP’s Salford District, said: “I would like to thank the local community for their patience while we try and establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.

“If anyone has any information that could assist us with our enquiries, please do come forward.

“Extra patrol officers have been deployed around the local area both on foot and in patrol cars. If you have any concerns, our officers will be happy to provide reassurance and listen to any of your queries.”
