Salford City play host to a stuttering AFC Barrow side on Saturday afternoon with the Ammies looking to continue their unbeaten streak.

Salford have not lost a league game under the tenure of Karl Robinson and the man from Merseyside will be hoping to continue this run.

This weekend’s opponents arrive at the Peninsula Stadium in fifth but have just one win in their last five league games and have lost their last two league games.

Pete Wild’s side slipped up on Tuesday night against relegation strugglers Forest Green Rovers, inflicting The Bluebirds’ second home defeat of the season with a 2-1 win.

Meanwhile, a win for Salford could see them potentially leapfrog Tranmere Rovers into 18th and further away from the relegation zone. Tranmere, ironically, being the side whose demolition of Salford saw former Head Coach Neil Wood lose his job in December.

Karl Robinson’s side will be eager to carry their momentum into this game with the opportunity to pull further away from the relegation zone and will see an out-of-form Barrow side as a good opportunity to do so, despite their differing league positions.

Robinson, speaking after Tuesday’s draw with Doncaster Rovers, said:

“We’ve got to make sure we march on, do a little more hard work on Thursday and get ourselves ready for a very competitive game against Barrow on Saturday.

“If we go and win on Saturday, it’s two points per game and that’s promotion form.”

Salford City vs AFC Barrow kicks off on Saturday, February 17 at 3pm.
