Three Salford City players have been included in the League Two Team Of The Week after a 5-3 triumph against Barrow last Saturday.

Callum Hendry and Matt Smith were both on the scoresheet scoring two goals each, with Elliot Watt supplying two assists. All three have been named in the league’s Team Of The Week.

Smith’s brace put him on 21 goals as he continues his charge towards being the divisions top scorer. The 6’6 frontman is now just one goal behind Notts County’s Macaulay Langstaff.

The five star performance is just another brilliant display from Salford City under manager Karl Robinson, who has the team in fine form and still unbeaten since Robinson took charge. The Ammies have three wins in their last five, coming against top six teams Wrexham, Crewe Alexandra and Barrow.

Salford’s Smith got on the scoresheet late on, with 77th and 86th minute finishes putting the game to bed. Smith has now reached over 20 goals for the first time in his career.

Callum Hendry won Salford City’s player of the match, netting the opener and the goal to restore the lead after going 2-1 down.

Salford skipper Elliot Watt orchestrated the midfield, with seven duels won, four interceptions and two assists.

Salford now sit in 19th, comfortably pulling away from the relegation zone and now are only 9 points away from the playoff places.

The Ammies will now go into this weekend’s fixture against second place Mansfield full of confidence, as they look to continue their fine run of form.
