Salford Red Devils prepare for Magic Weekend lose to Catalan Dragons in the Challenge Cup Quarter finals

Salford Red Devils will host Wigan Warriors as they continue their search for a second league victory.

The Red Devils who have been on a disappointing run, only winning once this campaign, will be hoping to lift themselves off the bottom of the league.

Paul Rowley’s side will be hoping for a turn in form after they were beaten heavily, 72-10, on their travels to Wakefield Trinity.

The defeat that saw the Red Devils concede 13 tries, and despite scoring 10 points, in a match that showed they were no match for the team that sit sixth in the division.

A win for the Paul Rowley’s side will see them move off the bottom of the league, depending on Huddersfield Giants result against Leigh Leopards.

With 11 defeats this season already registered, this upcoming fixture will prove to be another challenging one to come away with precious points.

Wigan Warriors will be approaching the game second in the division, with only two defeats collected this season from a possible twelve fixtures.

The back-to-back winners of the League Leaders Shield will be hoping to maintain their impressive form, having not lost since Saturday 22 March, losing narrowly 12-10 to Leeds Rhinos.

Since then, Wigan have gone seven games unbeaten even beating Salford Red Devils during that run – winning 54-0 at The Brick Community Stadium.

Red Devils fans will remember that game well, with Paul Rowley revealing that only 15 players were available for the fixture due to the injuries and off-field struggles.

Nonetheless, Salford will be hoping to turn their misfortunes around and regain some form in their league season – but will have to forget about the previous two encounters with the travelling away side.

Wigan will walk into the fixture with the psychological advantage, beating the Red Devils 64-0 and 54-0 in their last two meetings, and have won all four of their last meetings.

However, with those meetings in the past, a win for the Red Devils will be massive confidence booster for the remainder of the season – as it will not only lift them off the bottom of the table but reignite their league season.

The game will commence at 8pm at the Salford Community Stadium –  with more information about the fixture being found here.
