Salford City captain Curtis Tilt has turned down the clubs offer of a new contract as he makes the switch to join Bradford City.
The defender will leave he club after spending two years at the club, where he has been announced to be joining the Bantams.
The 33-year-old will make the city switch after agreeing a two-year-deal at the end of his contract later this month.
During his time at Salford City, he was able to make 92 appearances, contributing six goals – amongst many memorable moments for the club.
Following the announcement of his departure, Salford City shared today (Wednesday 4 June): “Curtis Tilt has turned down our offer of a new contract for an offer further up the pyramid.”
They continued: “Thank you for the last two years Tilty and all the best going forward!”
Tilt joined the club in July 18 2023, where the club signed him from Wigan Athletic.
The Salford captain had joined Wigan in 2022, after three loan spells with Rotherham sending him to The Latics, before moving him to the club on a permanent deal in the Championship.
But after a season signed permanently at Wigan, he would eventually join Salford dropping two divisions to play in League Two.
During his first season at the Ammies, Tilt would feature 51 times for the club and even finding himself on the scoresheet five times.
But it was his leadership and ability as a player that caught the attention of new arriving manager Karl Robinson, who selected Tilt to become club captain, in his second season.
As captain, Ammies supporters will remember the clubs historic FA Cup, which saw the club secure their first ever Third Round fixture in the competition.
A run that would see the club beat the League One side Shrewsbury Town 2-1.and won against Cheltenham Town 2-0, before being picked to play Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Tilt was able to lead out his team at the Etihad Stadium, in a day to forget for the club after losing 8-0, however, he will remain in the XI that made its way to the FA Cup Third Round.
And the excitement and journey of the season didn’t stop there for Salford supporters, as he was able to lead The Ammies as they narrowly missed out on the play-offs on the final day.
However, while Salford avoided promotion Tilt will be expected to feature for the Bantams in League One.
Ahead of the move to Bradford City, Curtis Tilt said: “The club is massive, the fanbase is massive and it has been a big draw for me.
“I have spoken to the manager and I really like the way he views the game and the style of play he wants. This is an opportunity I am really looking forward to.”
Bantams boss Graham Alexander added: “Curtis is a player who we have admired from playing against us and has attributes we know will help us with our way of defending and playing.
“His pace and experience will be of great benefit to our team and we are very happy to have him join us.”
