Swinton Lions were beaten 28-4 as Goole Vikings were able to pull off a super win.
The Lions travelled to the Victoria Pleasure Grounds on Sunday 10 August, and were looking to continue their winning run after beating North Wale Crusaders 12-24.
And Paul Wood’s side started well and had the best of the early chances – and should have taken the lead in the eleventh minute.
Louie Roberts broke down the right-hand side of the pitch, deciding to take on his opposition number but was tackled by Josh Guzdeck.
But as the game continued the Vikings grew into the game, and Jaylan Hodgson was able to make a good break, which took an excellent tackle from Frank Sergent to stop him making further progress.
Despite Goole’s ability to grow into the game, Swinton Lions took the lead in the twentieth minute when Jack Stevens converted a penalty for back chat to the official.
And five minutes later he converted a second for an off the ball tackle thirty metres out.

However, Swinton Lions lead only last six minutes, as in the 31st minute they were awarded their first penalty of the match, and this laid the platform for Tom Lineham to finish in the corner with Reece Dean converting.
And from there the Lions defence fell apart, as two minutes later Reece Dean was able to create an opening for Ben Dent to cross under the posts and again Dean Converted.
The Lions restart kick floated straight dead, and this put them under even more pressure, and they paid for the error when Hodgson slipped a tackle to score under the posts and Dean again converted in the 36th minute.
And as the two teams went into half time, the Lions would need to improve to get back into the game – losing 18-4 at the break.
But the Vikings continued their onslaught straight from the start of the second half – as Dean went close with a short kick through the line and forced a goal line drop out.
From the drop out the pressure persisted and allowed the club to extend their lead when Bailey Dawson latched onto a pass to score on the left and Dean again was good with the conversion.
And the Lions issued continued as the attacks kept coming as Harry Higham had to pull off two good tackles before his side finally made some good ground to trouble the Vikings line with Jayden Hatton and Higham combining well but the defence stood up well.
The Vikings pressure was maintained on the Lions who had no answers for the constant bombardment, and produced a twenty metre play the ball for the visitors and the Lions Ellis Anderson knocked on and this caused a small fight before Anderson was sent to the sinbin.
Despite the best efforts from the Lions, the defence of Goole Vikings were able to hold off the attackers.
And their defensive hold out was rewarded with four minutes left when fast hands to the right saw Lineham cross in the corner for his second, but Dean could not convert but the Vikings had already done enough to walk away with the win.
Following the game, Swinton Lions will now have to turn their attention to the next fixture against Rochdale Hornets on Sunday 24 August – as they continue their push for promotion.
