Greater Manchester Police are appealing for witnesses after an incident involving threats with a bladed article in the Winterford Road area of Salford.

According to GMP, a dog walker was threatened by a man holding a shard of glass wrapped up in tape, before the suspect was fended off by a group of men and fled the scene.

The police have released images of a man they want to speak with in relation to the incident in the Winterford Road area of Manchester, near Cheetham Hill, on September 1

Police said the man involved was last seen near Lanbury Drive, Cheetham Hill. They have searched the area but have been unable to find him.

CCTV images have now been released as police with police appealing for witnesses to help them put a name to the face.

A statement by GMP reads: “At around 7.10 pm on Thursday, 11 September 2025, a man was walking his dog in Bellott Street dog park when he was approached by a man acting suspiciously.

“Concerned for his safety, the victim contacted his son, who, along with a friend, came to assist. The unknown man is believed to have followed the group back towards Winterford Road, where verbal threats were made.

“The man is then seen on CCTV holding a shard of glass wrapped in tape and shouting threatening remarks. The group managed to fend off the suspect, who then left the area.”

“Officers are looking to speak to a man who is approximately 6 feet tall, of slim build, wearing a white turban, grey Adidas trousers, and a sky blue jacket with a notable red birthmark on forehead and gaps in his teeth as they believe he can assist them with their enquiries.
