A 36-year-old man has been arrested following a “prolonged stand-off” with police after a shooting in Salford.
He was detained on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear.
At around 8.16pm on Sunday, 1 February, officers were called to reports that a firearm had been discharged on St Joseph’s Drive in Ordsall.
Armed officers were deployed to a house and, following a stand-off, the man was arrested safely.
He remains in custody for questioning.
Greater Manchester Police have issued an appeal for information following the incident.
Detective Superintendent Simon Moyles explained that the force is treating the shooting with “the utmost seriousness” and called on witnesses to help their investigation.
DI Moyles said: “We are treating this incident with the utmost seriousness.
“The use of firearms and acts of intimidation have absolutely no place in Greater Manchester, and we will not tolerate them.
“Our officers responded swiftly to protect the public, and our investigation will continue to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
“My appeal to the public is this: if you witnessed anything, or if you have any information that could assist our enquiries, please come forward.
“This includes anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time.”
