A new Salford music festival has been announced for 2026 in support of two cancer charities.

Salfest, which aims to raise money through music performances from local groups, will be hosted at the Monton Amateur Football Club grounds on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Guests can expect live music, food and drinks and a fun fair, with all proceeds going equally towards Macmillan Cancer Support and The Christie Charity.

Organiser Samantha Jolly said: “I’ve had experiences with Christie’s and Macmillan, whether it be through friends being treated there, or family being treated there.

“The work that they do is just absolutely unreal, and the one thing I wanted to do was to give back to the two charities that have done so much to support people close to us.”

The Salford festival will include several grassroots music performers, as well as local bands and a headliner, which is yet to be announced.

Local indie and rock band Manic Overdrive were announced earlier this week, with Salfest calling them the “future stars of Salford.”

Samantha added: “We are giving grassroots music that platform to grow their own band and grow their own craft a little, by putting them in front of a larger audience for the first two hours.”

AFC Monton is the host for the event, having previously hosted G-Fest, a local music and community festival that supports the Georgia’s Children of the World charity, in 2023 and 2024.

Board member and bar manager Keith Harwood said: “We’re a community based club and we obviously support anything in the community that’s going on.

“Hopefully the weather’s like it was in the summer. People can all sit outside, listen to a bit of music, get a beer, get something to eat, let the children go on the fun fair, and all have a really nice day.”

Samantha added: “We wanted to make sure it is completely safe for families to enjoy, with their mind at ease,” and that AFC Monton have been absolutely incredible in their partnership with Salfest.

The organisers are also currently seeking sponsorships to help fund the day.

Samantha said: “We are just a team of volunteers. We’re not doing this to make money. This is purely to raise money, to say thank you to two incredible charities and bring the community together.”

Peachy Business Services, a business finance company, is already helping to sponsor Salfest.

Managing director Daniel Pietsch said: “I’ve known Sam for fourteen years. She is probably one of the most organized people that I’ve ever met, and the event’s gonna go very, very smoothly.”

“It’s really good to be a part of it.”

Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Tuesday 30 October, with the release of 500 early bird tickets. Prices range from £10.95 to £27.50.

Samantha said: “One thing I stipulated with this festival from the offset is that I wanted it to be affordable.”

Attendees can also purchase VIP tickets, allowing them to access an exclusive bar and seating area.

Upcoming lineup announcements can be found on their Facebook page.
