Christmas markets across Salford are gearing up for the festive season.

While the Manchester Christmas Markets have a lot of traction, other community-led markets across Salford promote smaller businesses and are worth a visit.

The annual Makers Market is returning to Quayside this Saturday, ahead of the Christmas period, and is easily accessible by bus or tram.

With the Media City tram stop just a three-minute walk away, and the 50 bus serving Pendleton and Salford Precinct stopping nearby, the much-loved makers market is well connected. The free event prides itself on its accessibility and is dog-friendly.

The market hosts a range of community and independent businesses, providing a unique Salford-led shopping experience. Stall owners have maintained the importance of the seasonal event, noting that the Christmas market is one of their main income sources.

The stall owners have expressed in the past how important it is to attend events like this, as it is one of their main sources of income.

Every weekend in the build-up to Christmas, over 70 stalls come together outside The Lowry theatre and provide an opportunity for shoppers to source locally created artisan projects ahead of the big day.

In addition, the Walkden Christmas market is set to open on 23 November.

This market, located on Bolton Road,  is another chance to support independent businesses. Visitors can take in live music and pick out a range of hand crafted presents.
