Salford City Lionesses will hope to stay at the top of Division One Central as they take on fellow Mancunian side Ashton Town ladies on Sunday.

The Lionesses currently sit at the top of the Northwest regional: Division One Central just two points ahead of Ashton Town who have not lost their last six games.

In their previous matches, they have beat local rivals Wigan Athletic 3-2 and MSB Woolton 3-0 which puts them on 27 points at the top of the league in which this weekend they hope to add too.

After defeat in the FA cup qualifying rounds to Accrington Ladies FC, The Lionesses have put their entire focus on the league after relegation last year

The Salfordian side beat Ashton Town in their last meeting in August 3-2 with goals from Bethany Tattersall and Evie Brookes which was their first opening in in three seasons.

Interim manager Caz Simone will be hoping top goal scorer Bethany Tattersall can add to her eight goals for Salford City Lionesses in the 14 games.

The pressure is on as a a win this weekend could keep The Lionesses on top of the league and in the hunt for promotion.

The match will kick off at 2pm at Albert Park Broughton.
