A new Salford restaurant and wine bar has earned a coveted spot in the Michelin Guide, despite being open for less than a year.

Kallos, a modern Greek restaurant at Cortland in Colliers Yard, off Trinity Way, opened earlier this year with a focus on Mediterranean food and wine.

Last week marked a major milestone for the venue when it was added to the prestigious Michelin Guide.

The Michelin Guide praised the restaurant, noting: “With its all-day dining, caring service and scrumptious flavours of the Mediterranean, this is the kind of neighbourhood operation you could quickly find yourself visiting week after week.

“The evening wine bar and meze selection take you straight to the heart of Greece.”

Kallos was curated by Ivan Milchev, 32 and Ivonna Antoniou, 30. Despite being from Bulgaria and Greece respectively, they met in the UK in 2017 while both were working in the hospitality industry.

“When we met, we just clicked,” Antoniou said. “We both have a great passion for the industry, and we wanted to express that through our own ideas.”

Their ambition was to build a space that transports guests to Greece, with a carefully curated wine list and an emphasis on fresh, authentic ingredients.

“It’s a small menu, but everything is made in-house,” Antoniou explained. “We always look for the best ingredients—the freshest Greek produce.”

Kallos currently holds the largest selection of Greek wine in Manchester, with bottles representing regions across Greece. The food menu features brunch classics with a Mediterranean twist, a meze selection paired with flatbreads, and premium tinned fish. Dishes range from £4-£29.

It is currently the only Salford-based restaurant featured in the Michelin Guide.

Ivan and Ivonna said: “This happened because of our team’s dedication to every plate that leaves the kitchen, every welcoming smile, and every story we share with each wine we serve. To all our guests who have supported us, believed in us and shared in what we are building, thank you.”

Ivonna credited teamwork as a key factor in Kallos’ rapid growth. She said: “There are days when one of us misses something and the other points it out. We help each other recognise what needs improving.

“People have not seen the best of Kallos yet.”

Reviews on social media echo the enthusiasm. One TikTok user said: “The filo pastry stuffed with honey and feta is an absolute must. The vibes were immaculate, the food delicious, and it wasn’t that expensive.

“Well worth a visit—great food and amazing service. Honestly, the best brunch, hands down, that I’ve had in a very long time.”
