A folk singer-songwriter known for her political commentary is set to bring a new show to The Lowry Theatre in February.
Grace Petrie, a Leicester-based artist who gained notoriety for creating politically charged protest music after the 2010 general election, has confirmed The Lowry will be the last stop on her upcoming ‘This Is No Time To Panic!’ tour.
On the back of her successful sellout stand-up show ‘Butch Ado About Nothing,’ and a triumphant run at the Edinburgh Fringe, Petrie promises to deliver a fusion of impassioned folk music and razor-sharp stand-up comedy in Salford on Sunday 1 February.
She has played to packed-out crowds from Glastonbury to Latitude Festival, earned chart success with her 2021 album Connectivity, and made regular appearances on BBC Radio 4’s The Now Show and hit podcast The Guilty Feminist.
Organisers say her new hybrid show is proof that you can be “deeply political, disarmingly personal, and properly funny – all in the same set.”
Petrie, hailed as one of the UK’s most compelling songwriters, lesbians and checked-shirt-collectors, says there is no better time for a feel-good show.
“Depressed by fascism, misogyny and eco-destruction? Sounds like your climate needs a change.”
