Salford red Devils

Salford Red Devils have been liquidated in a one-minute court hearing today.

This morning at the HMRC hearing, it was confirmed that the court has formally ordered the liquidation of the club.
In the fifth winding-up hearing, the 152-year-old club’s existence came to an end in a one-minute hearing relating to an unpaid tax bill due to His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.

Their 2025 season was marked by troubles on and off the pitch, including a mass player exodus, late wage payments, and heavy defeats. They were relegated to the second-tier Championship and had been set to kick off the 2026 season with a home match against local rivals Oldham on January 16.

The case against Salford was initially brought in June and had been adjourned several times to allow for the opportunity to pay the debt. The club was not represented in court.

Discussions are now being had between supporters and businesses who are understood to be interested in immediately resurrecting the Red Devils as a ‘phoenix club’, and potentially fulfilling the old club’s fixtures.

As the story continues to unfold and more information is revealed, the Red Devils fans look on at the 152-year-old history.
