Salford’s creative community is set to take centre stage as Grit Studios hosts an open day at the shopping centre this weekend.

Residents are invited to step inside the studios and meet the makers shaping the city’s growing arts scene from midday to 4pm this Saturday, December 6.

The community-focused studio space—now based inside a former bank on Mather Way—has grown quickly since moving in earlier this year.

The open day aims to give Salford locals an insight into the work happening behind the studio doors and to celebrate the artists, designers and creators who use the space daily.

Chloè Julia Smith, an artist using the space, said: “For me, Grit Studios represents having a place where creativity can develop without pressure.

“The open day matters because it gives people chance to see the real process behind the art: the graft, and the joy.

“It’s rare to find a space that feels this welcoming and collaborative, so i’m excited to share it with the people in Salford.”

Employee Sophie Macauley said: “Open studio days give people a chance to step inside the creative spaces of Salford.

“When the community shows up for local artists, it keeps our cultural scene thriving, connected and full of possibility.”

Visitors can expect live art, hands-on demonstrations, craft tables to make Christmas bunting, and plenty of coffee.

Grit Studios, known for supporting grassroots makers and emerging artists, hopes that the Open Day will encourage more residents to engage with the creativity happening at the heart of the shopping centre.

The event is free to attend and open to all ages.
