A Salford police officer

A woman has been injured in a shooting on a residential street in Salford.

Police say two men arrived on Wally Square, Higher Broughton, on an electric bike and that one of them walked up to a property before discharging a firearm at around 6.50pm on Thursday, December 4.

The woman in her 20s suffered an injury described by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) as ‘minor.’ Exactly how she sustained it is still under investigation.

Officers are appealing for anyone with any information of the incident to come forward. This includes anyone with any CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage from the area at the time of the incident.

Detective Inspector Louise Edwards, from GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “Any report of a firearms discharge is shocking and is something that will never be tolerated on the streets of Greater Manchester.

“No-one should feel unsafe or threatened in their own homes, and we are working to ensure those responsible face justice.”

Two men aged 24 and 27 have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
