Salford City are looking for their 10th win in the last 13 matches after a 2-0 victory on Merseyside thanks to goals from Jorge Grant and Kelly N’Mai.

As this is the first game after the transfer window deadline, Ammies supporters will be looking forward to seeing some of their January recruits in action for the first time, including deadline day signings Princewill Ehibhatiomhan and Alfie Dorrington.

Accrington Stanley are also in a good recent form of their own, hoping to make a third win in a row after 4-1 and 3-1 defeats of Newport and Accrington. John Doolan is surely still hoping for a play-off qualification as his team is only nine points behind 7th in the league.

The last time the two have met, Luke Garbutt scored a fine free-kick as Salford battled to a a 2-1 win at the Peninsula. The defender will hope to add to his tally of three league goals on Thursday night.

The trip to the Wham Stadium comes ahead of Salford’s highly anticipated visit to the Etihad Stadium in the FA Cup fourth round.

Karl Robinson is expected to try to find his strongest side, hoping for a better result against Manchester City at the Etihad following last year’s 8-0 battering.

The match will kick-off a minute later than usual, at 20:01, on Thursday 6 January as part of the EFL’s campaign ‘Every Minute Matters’ which is encouraging people to take CPR lessons as part of February being Heart Month.
