Salford RLFC are set to host Hunslet in the Championship on Saturday after their 60-0 loss against Hull FC in the Challenge Cup.
Salford will continue their brand new life following the dissolution of Salford Red Devils last year. The phoenix club are yet to win a game but will be hopeful they can overcome a Hunslet side that azre winless in the league and were beaten 52-6 by top-flight Huddersfield Giants in the Challenge Cup last time out.
This is the first time the two clubs have played each other in recent memory. Hunslet have been a Championship club for most of their history and this season is the first time Salford have competed outside the top-flight for 17 years.
Salford have struggled so far this season and currently find themselves bottom of the second tier, yet to register a point.
Hunslet were beaten 20-12 by Dewsbury in their only Championship game so far and this could be a chance for Mike Grady’s men to spark into life.
Following the loss against Hull, head coach Grady said he was happy with the “effort and commitment” despite the unflattering scoreline.
When speaking about the expectations of this game against Hunslet said, “I’ve not earmarked anything, but there’s no pressure to win this game or that game.”
This would be the second season running that Salford RLFC, formerly Salford Red Devils, have failed to win any of their first three fixtures if they are beaten.
Salford RLFC will take on Hunslet RLFC at the CorpAcq Stadium on Sunday 15 February, 3pm kick-off.
