Eric and Ern are set to perform at The Lowry Theatre this March, paying homage to the legendary British comedy duo Morecambe and Wise.

Starring Ian Ashpitel and Jonty Stephens, Eric and Ern’s run marks a special centenary celebration as both Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise would have celebrated their 100th birthdays in 2026.

Created by Ian Ashpitel and Jonty Stephens and based on the writings of Eddie Braben, Eric and Ern is presented by Martin Clarkson and The Production Garden in association with Cube Room Productions.

Following a limited run at Curve, Leicester, Eric and Ern will visit the Lowry, Salford from Tuesday 24th to Saturday 28th of March before the Olivier nominated Ashpitel and Stephens grace the Garrick Theatre in London’s West End and Morecambe Winter Gardens.

Originally a radio operator in the Royal Navy until seeing a play in Plymouth, Ashpitel attended the Birmingham School of Speech Training and Dramatic Art where he met Stephens in 1983, remaining friends ever since and touring London’s West End in 2015 with the Olivier nominated Eric and Little Ern.

Ashpitel and Stephens mark a brilliant homage to two national comedy heroes who once captured families huddled around their tellies, with renditions of famous and beloved Morcambe and Wise sketches, songs and routines, suitable for all the family from ages 8 to 80 with a 1 hour 50 minute running time and 20 minute interval.

Eric and Ern is at the Lowry, Salford from Tuesday 24 to Saturday 28th March, with tickets available here.

On Wednesday 25th March the Lowry will also be hosting a specially adapted Dementia Friendly Performance, with booking available via 0161 876 2183.
