Salford RLFC boss Mike Grady is hopeful his side can build on an impressive win against Hunslet as the side visit Doncaster on Sunday.
Salford battled to a hard-fought 29-18 victory over Hunslet, but have had to wait two weeks to resume their second-tier campaign because scheduled opponents Featherstone Rovers were denied Championship membership by the Rugby League.
Speaking to the press ahead of the match, Grady hinted that the club were close to signing a player on loan from Super League club Castleford Tigers.
It has since been confirmed that young half-back Jenson Windley has joined Salford on a week-to-week basis, a deal which allows Castleford to recall him as and when they see fit.
Grady was delighted by the prospect of Windley’s move and said that there is a strong positive mood within the camp.
Reacting to comments made by Doncaster boss Richard Horne, who said he wanted the South Yorkshire outfit to use the game against Salford to gain momentum, Grady said: “It will be tough for us in the position we are in, but we are just going to have a good go, looking to improve week in week out.”
Salford are scheduled to host an open training session ahead of the game on Friday evening, which Grady said would help his players to “feel the support of the fans.”

He hopes supporters will be able to get a closer connection to the players, letting them know how important the club is to them.
With all the struggles facing the recently reestablished club, Salford are looking to build on previous league form.
Grady wants to take the Championship “One step at a time” as Salford look to cement themselves as a competitive second-tier team.
He feels the hard-work taking place behind the scenes will “bears fruits in the near future” and added that the team can call on the support of the fans to get through tough moments.
“I’ve never witnessed anything like it,” he said, talking about the way the Salford supporters have backed the team through thick and thin since the start of the season.
“Its special, we appreciate it and just bear with us. We will put 110% in every week,” he said.
