From the Lowry Press Release "Bank of Dave the musical"

The cast has been revealed for the production of The Musical Bank of Dave: The Musical ahead of the show opening at The Lowry Theatre this May.

Following the success of a Sunday Times bestselling book, an award-winning documentary, and a Netflix film of the same name, a cast of stars has been assembled for a new show based on the same “True-ish” story of Dave Fishwick, a self-made millionaire from Burnley who challenged the banking system by starting his own community-focused bank.

The cast of the much-anticipated musical has been unveiled, with Hayley Tamaddon (of Coronation Street and Emmerdale) playing Nicky, Lucca Chadwick-Patel (Previously in Mean Girls) as Hugh. Claire Moore and Lauryn Redding are also set to appear as Maureen and Alex.

The behind-the-scenes cast will be Rob Madge with the Book and Lyrics. Additionally, Pippa Cleary for music and Lyrics. Curve Artistic Director Nikolai Foster will direct the production.

The casting for Dave, crucially, is yet to be announced.

Organisers gave a synopsis of the show: “A self-made millionaire, Dave spent years helping local people and small businesses when hard-nosed banks turned them away. Frustrated by the system, he has an idea… to set up his own bank and put the profits straight back into his community.

With posh but principled lawyer Hugh at his side, Dave swaps Burnley for London to take on the banking bigwigs and fight for a fairer deal. But will the fat cats of the City make way for Dave’s dreams?”

Dave said: “I left school at 16 with no qualifications and started as a builder’s labourer. Years later, I built the first new high street bank in Britain in over 150 years. Then came Hollywood, twice! And now, the world of theatre has arrived. From Burnley to Broadway, via Salford and Leicester first, of course.

“I’m just an ordinary lad from Burnley doing extraordinary things. If I can make it happen, you can too. Always have the courage to follow your dreams.”

The film adaptation was number one on Netflix, and the book was a Sunday Times bestseller. Fishwick himself has called the production “The humour of The Full Monty with the spirit of Billy Elliot, but with a few more ba*tard bankers, and an unlikely hero from Burnley!”

Despite his lack of qualifications, Dave built the first new high street bank in Britain in 150 years.

He now has regular Live TV slots as a business and money expert on GMB and This Morning.
