A Salford foundation dedicated to tackling poverty and supporting local families has distributed nearly 1,500 eggs to residents, just in time for Easter.
The eggs were distributed by The Bridgewater Foundation amongst the Salford community to schools and families for the third year running, with the support of businesses such as Kidruz nurseries and Bridgestone.
The Bridgewater Foundation is a grassroots community organisation, established just over three years ago.
The Foundation called on residents to donate resources in order to enable the ongoing Easter campaign.
Gemma Fish, creator and founder, was delighted with the response from residents and shared that: “Community support is everything.”
“The foundation is built on collaboration and when that comes together, the impact is huge,” she said.
Bridgewater Foundation began initially to support local families who were struggling around Christmas.
In 2025, they merged with Salford Step into Action, which was established during the pandemic.
The merger strengthened the reach and ability of the Foundation to help those in need.
Gemma said: “It has since grown into one of the largest self-sustaining, community-led organisations in the city.”
The appeal saw local schools and community organisations coming together to spread Easter joy to families in need.
Gemma added that: “This appeal is inspired by what we see every day. Many families don’t meet the criteria for formal support.”
“Initiatives like this help fill that gap in a way that is immediate, accessible and dignified.”
This Easter appeal saw a wide network of support from locals.
Donations of eggs, funds and resources made everything possible.
The Bridgewater Foundation provides year-round support to locals with weekly food banks and seasonal appeals.
Gemma said: “We are seeing a clear increase in families needing support. Demand has increased significantly year upon year.”
“If you need support, please reach out and if you can help, please get involved.”
The yearly Easter campaign strengthens community connections and reduces financial pressure allowing all children to feel included.
“From our family to yours – together, we are always stronger.”
