Police have warned Salford residents not to approach a wanted man on the run after escaping custody.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are appealing for information to help them trace Muiz Olatunji, of no fixed abode but from Salford.

The force said that the 25-year-old has “escaped lawful custody.”

In a public appeal posted on social media, GMP described Olatunji as a black male of medium build with black Afro hair, approximately 5ft 10 in tall.

He is thought to have links to Scotland and specifically the country’s capital, Glasgow, as well as Greater Manchester.

Olatunji was charged in March earlier this year with assault offences after three custody officers and staff were allegedly attacked on New Year’s Day.

Anyone who sees Olatunji is urged not to approach him and to contact the police immediately.

“Anybody with information regarding the whereabouts of Olatunji is asked to contact police on 101 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. Always dial 999 in an emergency,” a GMP spokesperson said.
