Students are celebrating “outstanding” results after securing university places following their studies at a technical college in Salford.
A number of students at UTC in Media City gained places at their first-choice universities after receiving their results.
Bosses at UTC in Media City, which is run by the Aldridge Education trust, said they were “incredibly proud” of their students’ attainment in this year’s exams.
Their results came as pupils across have been receiving their eagerly awaited A Level results today.
The exciting and nerve-wracking reveal comes after two years’ worth of studying for students in colleges and sixth forms across the city.
It marks the beginning of a new chapter in University, apprenticeships, and the world of work for Salford’s A-level class of 2026.
Across the country, the proportion of A-level entries awarded top grades has risen for the third year in a row, likely driven by the popularity of maths and students scoring highly in it.
Headline achievements for the college include:
– 100% A*-B in A Level Graphics.
– 80% A* in A Level Graphics.
– 100% A*-A in A Level Photography.
– 100% A*-E in A Level Computer Science.
– 100% A*-E in A Level Film Studies
100% Pass in L3 BTEC Creative Digital Media Practice
– 65% Distinction * to Distinction Grades in L3 Creative Digital Media Practice.
There are plenty of individual successes to celebrate, including:
Ruby, who achieved full marks with a Triple Distinction* in Level 3 BTEC Digital Design, alongside an A in A-level Graphics, and will now progress to university.
Carly attained a top-grade Triple Distinction* in Level 3 BTEC Games Design and an A* in A-level Graphics. She will progress to the University of Manchester to study Games Art.
Lucas achieved a top-grade Triple Distinction* in Level 3 BTEC Digital Design and an A* in A-level Graphics. He will progress to UAL to study Graphic Design.
Viktoriia achieved a top-grade Triple Distinction* in Level 3 BTEC Games Design and an A* in A-level Graphics. She will progress to Abertay University to study Games Design.

UTC Media City provides specialist creative and technical education for young people aged 13–18 in Salford.
Its curriculum combines academic study with industry-focused learning and opportunities to work with employers and creative organisations, helping students build the knowledge, experience and professional skills they need for their next steps.
