Soon more people around the world could be reaching for rum and gin made in Salford following a deal between an award-winning local distillery and a drinks sales company.

Founded in Salford by Tommy Gaughan and James Harrison, Salford Distillery has built a reputation as one of the North’s best-known premium spirits brands and already stocks its products in Canada and Hong Kong.

But a new deal could see its range of more than 10 craft rums and gins, hand-distilled in small batches at its Arch 33 site on Viaduct Street, sold to more customers further afield.

From their distillery within a Victorian railway arch in Greengate, the alcoholic drinks makers hope people far and wide will be able to reach for a bottle of their Salford-made product in the future.

To make this ambition a reality, they have struck a deal with DOMI Brands, a company specialising in driving commercial growth, which said it will focus on developing and expanding distribution opportunities for its spirits portfolio across the UK and export markets.

The Salford distillery is based in a Victorian railway arch in Greengate.

“We’ve put real time into building Salford Distillery, working with local suppliers, growing our community here in Salford and beyond and taking the liquid into markets like Hong Kong and Canada,” explained Tommy Gaughan, Co-Founder of Salford Distillery. “That’s not something you can shortcut, and it’s given us a strong foundation to build from.

“Our business-to-consumer model is in good shape, but there’s a strong opportunity to develop our business-to-business offering, and that’s where we’re looking to DOMI to help us push things forward.

“We’re an agile brand, we can react quickly and get things done, and we wanted a partner who gets that. Great credentials, great fit, and we’re looking forward to getting stuck in with the team.”

Craig Brackett, Director at DOMI Brands, said: “We are delighted to be working with Salford Distillery, a brand with genuine provenance, strong liquid credentials and a clear sense of identity in Salford – a city which continues to evolve and shape the future of Greater Manchester.

“This is a partnership we are especially proud of. Spending time with Tommy and James, Salford Distillery has already built strong foundations, and we believe there is a significant opportunity to support the next stage of growth by unlocking new distribution, increasing visibility and helping more consumers discover this exceptional brand across the UK and abroad.”
