A planning application has been submitted to build 63 affordable homes in Weaste and Seedley.
The application close to Buile Hill Park consists of two four-storey blocks of flats as well as two blocks of town houses, including 44 apartments and 19 town houses, with a range of sizes from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom town houses.
A total of 44 car parking spaces, as well as dedicated bike stores and motorcycle spaces are included in the plans submitted to Salford City Council for approval.
The trees to the northern and southern borders would be retained.
The homes in Edward Avenue would be built of pink/red brick with subtle white and grey tonal variation.
Buile Hill Park and the Mansion are close to the proposed site which developers have taken into consideration, choosing building materials and appearance to reference the historic site.
The feedback form revealed that 67 per cent of respondents to their survey support the provision of affordable housing in Salford. More than 60 per cent also support the economic benefits associated with this project, including new construction jobs, and increased spending in local shops.
One person surveyed said they would prefer the site be used to expand the neighbouring St Luke’s C of E primary school. Building works could impact the school’s day-to-day functionality.
Buttress Architects said: “The scheme has been shaped through a robust and iterative design process, underpinned by extensive consultation and close collaboration with Salford City
Council.”
