A firearm and a substantial quantity of ammunition have been recovered from a business address in Irlam.
Today (October 8 2026) GMP also arrested two men on suspicion of conspiracy to supply cocaine and cannabis.
One man appeared to be in his 50s and the other in his 30s.
They both remain in police custody for questioning and officers are continuing their enquiries.
Police raided the recently-closed business in Liverpool Road around 8.30pm on Wednesday evening (7 October 2026).
A firearm and a substantial quantity of ammunition were recovered.
Detective Inspector Rich McCorry, from GMP’s Serious organised Crime Group, said: “Acting on intelligence, officers executed a warrant at a business premises in Irlam, where a firearm and a substantial quantity of ammunition were recovered.
“The seizure of any firearm is significant – it prevents the weapon from falling into the wrong hands, and we have potentially prevented a serious incident occurring recovering this gun.
“I would like to thank officers from our Tactical Aid Unit and Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit for their support during this operation.”
