CURZON Ashton have announced the signing of former Ashton United and Stockport County midfielder Iain Howard.

Howard, 28, was a mainstay in the Northwich Victoria team which lost out on promotion from the Evo-Stik Division One North last season.

The left-footer started his career at Preston North End before joining Curzon’s local rivals Ashton United where he scored 34 goals in 130 games.

After his spell at Hurst Cross, Howard joined Chester where he scored 35 times in 111 games as the Blues secured three straight promotions.

After leaving the newly-formed club, Howard joined Stockport County where he scored 11 goals during one season at Edgeley Park.

Since then, Howard has had spells at Nantwich Town, Atherton Collieries and Northwich Town.

The Nash, who finished a club record 11th in the Vanarama National League North last season, have now signed four players this week – with a further player set to join tomorrow.

Howard follows Michael Potts, Jack Truelove and Paul Ennis in signing this week for John Flanagan’s side next season.
