Infamous cocktail bar and restaurant, The Alchemist, is set to open a new bar in Salford’s MediaCityUK.

The franchise announced plans to open in Media City earlier this month in the Dock 9 building on the Quays.

The bar is set to open in a new architectural masterpiece, ‘The Bund’, sat adjacent to the waterfront, on the walkway between MediaCityUK and the Lowry outlet. It will have floor to ceiling windows, a front terrace and deck which will be over the water, with views of the stunning MediaCity and even the ITV’s Coronation Street.

The £1.7 million scheme is a joint project between the Peel Land and Property Group, as well as Legal and General Capital, and will see the construction of the stunning architectural designs by Reid Architects.

The Alchemist decided that Mediacity would be the perfect location to open a new bar/restaurant due to how up and coming the Quays is currently, with it being home to the BBC and ITV and many other big media organisations.

MediaCityUK is continuing to grow and already has a fantastic range of bars and restauraunts as well as tourist attractions. The Alchemist is an iconic and popular brand already in the North West so adding it into the up and coming mix of MediaCity is looking to be very successful.

Residents and visitors to MediaCityUK are delighted about the news and are anticipating the opening of the new bar.

Managing director for the Alchemist, Simon Potts explains, “I’m delighted that The Alchemist will be opening in MediaCityUK and hugely excited to be creating a bespoke venue (in conjunction with Peel) from the ground up which will reflect the vibrancy and innovation for which MediaCityUK has become renowned”.

The architects want the building to be the regions next go-to night spot and bring more of a night life to Salford’s waterfront.

Quays News spoke to Emily, one of the bar staff from the Dockyard, another successful bar in MediaCity and asked whether she thinks the highly anticipated Alchemist will effect their sales and popularity.

The Alchemist is set to open in Spring next year.
