CARLISLE United’s Patrick Brough has extended his loan deal at Salford City until February 2017 after a string of impressive performances for the Ammies.

Brough, who made 38 appearances over three years for the League Two outfit, signed an initial one-month loan for November and appeared in all six of Salford’s matches.

The 20-year-old defender has also previously played in the National League North for Lincoln City.

Carlisle’s first-team coach, Keith Curle, said: “There’s a spring in his step at the moment and that’s because he’s getting pitch time. The reports we’ve had back have been very good and that’s no surprise at all, because he’s desperate to be playing football.

“They’re looking after him down there and he’s playing his part in some very competitive games. This gives him a chance to really establish himself and get a lot of minutes under his belt, which will only ever stand him in good stead.”

Salford City currently sit sixth in the National League North table, four points from the play-offs.
